ROCKFORD – The Ram gymnastic team earned their way to the MHSAA D2 Gymnastics Team State Finals with high scores and plenty of talent as they worked their way through the 2018/19 season. The finals took place at Rockford High School, Friday, March 8, and featured 13 teams. The Rams, which is a combination of Rockford and Sparta athletes, earned a second-place finish, proving hard work and dedication pays off.

The difficult Balance Beam found Case (9.225), Averi Nixon (8.975), Ammon (8.950), and Lokers (8.875) all combining for a Ram total of 36.025.

"I am so proud of these girls and this team," said Ram head coach Michelle Ankney. "We sat down a few weeks ago to brainstorm how we could increase our score.  We decided to focus in on our bar routines.  We had our highest team bar score of the season at state, and that is absolutely incredible for us!  I am so proud of their hard work.  We actually had the highest team score on bars, beam, and floor.  We had an impressive showing, and we came out and did what we wanted to do.  I am beyond excited for these girls and what they have accomplished this season!"

The Rams have very little time to revel in their trophy and impressive team finish, as the Individual State Finals are tomorrow, Saturday, March 9. Rockford High School is also hosting the individual finals.

Good luck, Rams, as you pursue your individual dreams!
