Lady Rams Claim Conference Title on Oval

EAST KENTWOOD – The Rams girls track & field team claimed the OK Red Conference Title by a decisive margin, Friday, May 10. The Lady Rams were able to rack up 201 points to claim the crown outright after going 6-0 at regular conference meets, including a tri that was against East Kentwood and Hudsonville due to a postponement from inclement weather.

The Rams were the decisive champion, but the battle for second place was a fierce one. Hudsonville and East Kentwood were separated by just one point at the end of the championships, with Hudsonville claiming runner up status with 120 points, and the Falcons landing third with 119. Grand Haven 88, West Ottawa 54, Grandville 45, and Caledonia 30 rounded out the scoring and finishes for the meet.

The Rams claimed firsts in six events and placed first in three of the relay events, and second in the 4x100. Peyton Korytkowski had a huge day – earning two PRs in the 100m and 300m hurdles on her way to earning the titles to both events. She was also part of the winning 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Ericka VanderLende earned the titles in the 1600m and 3200m runs and was part of the winning 4x800 relay team. Taylor Korytkowski earned the title in the 400m run, landed second in the 200m run and was part of the winning 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams. Shelby Korytkowski earned her conference title in the pole vault jumping 10-06.00.

The Rams now prepare for the MHSAA Regional competition, which will take place at Grand Haven, Friday, May 17.
