ADA – The Rams girls lacrosee team battled the Forest Hills United team, Tuesday, May 28, for the MHSAA Regional Semifinals. The game was a back and forth battle for most of the first half, with Forest Hills scoring first and the Rams answered, but no team took more than a one-goal lead until the last minute of the half. It was then the Rams overran their opponent scoring twice in the last minute, along with goalie Maddy Yakes making a point-blank save in the final 10 seconds to help Rockford claim a 7-5 lead heading into the half.
The Rams stormed out of the second half blazing to a 12-5 lead behind the work of Sydney Zimmerman , Katie Rodriguez And Madi Kleefisch on the circle. Forest Hills fought hard but could not overcome that 8-0 run by the Rams, with the Rams claiming the 16-8 victory.
Rockford’s scoring was led by Katie Rodriguez with four goals along with three assists, Sydney Zimmerman and Karrington VanderMolen with four goals and one assist each, and Izzy Holmes with two goals and an assist. Mckenna Rinehart and Anna Glynn also scored for the Rams.
Maddy Yakes was strong in goal with six saves behind a defense and midfield anchored by Zimmerman, Rodriguez, Kleefisch, Glynn, Shae Strehl, Bailey Banfield, and Hannah Heeren.
The Rams return to play Friday, May 31, at Forest Hills against Grandville where they attempt to secure their 12th straight Regional title.
