Noah Stallworth earns title of champion in 100 and 200, as does 4x100 relay team

KENTWOOD – The RHS boys track & field team faced off against the top runners in Michigan at the MHSAA D1 Track & Field State Finals, Saturday, June 1. The competitors faced less than ideal conditions as they not only battled each other, but a sky that sent down plenty of rain to make for a wet track and lightning delays that would cool them off just when they had started to warm up.

Rockford claimed fourth place, tying with Lansing Waverly with 30 points. Familiar OK Red foe East Kentwood placed first with 63.5 points, followed by Ann Arbor Pioneer with 43, and Alpena with 31.

Senior Noah Stallworth earned the titles of two sprinting events and was the anchor leg of the winning 4x100 relay team. Noah claimed first in the 100m with a time of 10.76 and was crowned champion in the 200m with a PR time of 21.64. He also joined teammates Jacob Rademacher, John Vanden Heuvel and Eli Haddad to claim first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 42.10.

Sophomore Jacob Peck tied for 10th in the pole vault with senior Logan Murphy placing 25th.

The Rams 4x400 team faced heartache after running into another runner in the final leg of the relay. The Rams were in third place at the time when the Ram anchor ran into the third leg of the other team causing him to fall and he recovered, but there was too much time to make up and the Rams placed ninth in the relay.

The team will certainly miss the talents of seniors Noah Stallworth, Logan Murphy, Jack Grimm and John Vanden Heuvel  next year, but will return plenty of junior talent including Eli Haddad, Ian Cook, Bradley Rohen-Blanton, Jacob Radmeacher, Jackson Moseley, Evan Veldkamp, Jacob Majoor,  along with sophomores Gage Martin and Jude Parks. There are also plenty of underclassmen coming back who have shown talent and growth over this season. It looks like this year’s impressive and successful season will be a springboard to a big year in 2020. This year was certainly had many great milestones, accomplishments and shared moments that made the season a special one.
