ROCKFORD – The Rams swim & dive team welcomed the Hudsonville Eagles to the RHS natatorium, Thursday, Sept. 26 in a conference match-up. Rockford proved to be tough hosts as they sent the Eagles home with a 176-139 loss.
Rockford claimed all three relays and placed first in five of the nine individual events. Rachel Gamm claimed two individual firsts, with Macy Folcik, Ashley Lund, and Sara Kraus each earning one.
The 200-Yard Medley Relay team of Sara Kraus, Josie Geers, Rachel Gamm, and Ashley Lund placed first with a time of 1:49.80. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Scott, Beers, Kraus and Folcik placed first with a time of 1:41.09, just edging out Hudsonville at the wall. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Beers, Folcik, Gamm and Lund placed first clocking in at 3:42.33.
Folcik landed first for the Rams in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:57.43. Oliver Harmsen placed second clocking in at 2:03.85 and Marie Prawdzik placed fourth with a time of 2:08.13. The 200 IM found Sara Kraus claiming second with a time of 2:12.42, closely followed by teammates Taylor Scott in third with a time of 2:20.16, and Josie Geers in fourth with a time of 2:23.14. Ally Kinstle placed sixth with a time of 2:26.99. The Rams had a 1-2 punch in the 50 Freestyle with Ashley Lund touching the wall first clocking in at 24:08, and Paige Beers immediately following with a time of 26.22.
As the swimmers took a break the divers took to the spring board. Ram Jessica Axman placed fifth with a score of 147.25 and Shelby Taylor landed sixth with 137.10.
Gamm claimed first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.92, Alex Fisher placed third clocking in at 1:04.57, and Gabrielle Shirley landed fifth with a time of 1:05.97. The 100 Freestyle found Lund placing second with a time of 53.01, Beers placing third clocking in at 56.76 and Harmsen landing fourth with a time of 57.13.
Gamm placed first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:01.09, and Alex Fisher placing second with a time of 1:04.59. The 100 Breaststroke found Kraus placing first with a time of 1:07.77 and Geers placing second clocking in at 1:11.70. Scott and Rylee Davis claimed fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Rams will travel to Grand Haven, Thursday, Oct. 3 to take on the Bucs. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
