GRAND RAPIDS – The RHS varsity boys cross country team had a good showing at the OK Red Conference Championships, Thursday, Oct. 17, competing on the course at Riverside Park. The Rams accumulated 73 points in the meet, earning a third-place finish. In September, the Rams placed fourth in the OK Red Jamboree #1 behind Grandville, and then topped them for third in Jamboree #2 in early October. With those finishes in combination with the conference meet, the Rams landed in third for the season in the OK Red.
Caledonia placed first with 37 points, and were followed by Hudsonville with 63, and Rockford in third. Grandville landed fourth with 91, and Grand Haven 98, East Kentwood 135 and West Ottawa 197, followed.
The Rams were led by junior Jude Parks who earned the Conference Crown, being deemed as the fastest runner in the OK Red by crossing the line first with a time of 16:21.2. Teammate Ian Cook placed 10th with a time of 16:56.4, and Kyle Sweeney landed 12th clocking in at 16:59.2. Jacob Majoor placed 24th with a time of 17:23.5 and Jacob Brown placed 26th clocking in at 17:28.5, and Alex Fahey followed immediately in 27th at 17:31.2. Kaiden Hunt placed 42nd with a time of 18:03.7 to round out the Rockford place finishes.
The Rams will warm up for the MHSAA Regional Championships, which take place in beautiful Benzie, Saturday, Oct. 26.
