DETROIT - On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, the Rockford High School Marching Band (RHSMB) entered Ford Field in Detroit for their State Championship competition. After a long day of practice and travel, they took the field to perform their show, “Fer Forgé.” The band was ranked first in the state for Flight I going into the competition, and they left the field in the same position, having earned a score of 94.325 and winning all three of the caption awards for Outstanding Musical Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding General Effect. This makes it the third year in a row that RHSMB claimed First Place at the state level.
The RHSMB returned home to Rockford late Saturday night to a fireworks display and barrage of applause and fanfare as they pulled into the high school parking lot. They would like to thank all of their supporters, both those who came to Detroit and those who have supported the band along the way.
The RHSMB is looking forward to traveling to Indianapolis in two weeks to perform at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Bands of America Grand National Championships on Friday, Nov. 16.
