The Rams played host to OK Red foe Grandville in a game played Thursday, May 10. The Rams were looking for revenge after dropping two games to Grandville earlier in the week. Rockford found it, topping the Bulldogs 4-1 to give Grandville their third loss of the season. The win moves the Rams’ record to 17-4.
The Rams were able to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI single by Khale Showers. Rockford was able to claim a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third. The Rams earned some insurance in the bottom of the fifth, plating two runs, and was able to claim the important 4-1 win.
Jake McLean led the Rams at the plate in hits in the victory, going 2-for-3 with a double. Khale Showers, James Bird, Jake Engelkes, and Trey Herblet all went 1-for-3, with Bird and Engelkes bagging doubles. Showers and Engelkes each tallied an RBI in the game. Zach Marshall earned the win, going all seven innings, giving up only one run on five hits and two walks, while fanning one.
