CALENDONIA – The Rockford boys cross country team traveled to Caledonia, Tuesday, Sept. 18, to take on the rest of the OK Red in the first Jamboree of the season.
The Rams varsity team landed in fifth place, accumulating 112 points. Hudsonville placed first with 35 points, and Grand Haven finished second with 52. Rounding out the top four were, Grandville, with 85 points, and Caledonia with 87 points. East Kentwood placed sixth with 129 points and West Ottawa was seventh with 212.
Jack Grimm was the top placer for the Rams, earning ninth place with a time of 17:12.6. Jude Parks also landed in the top 20, placing 14th with a time of 17:32.5.
Other finishes for the Rams were: 28. Ian Cook 18:08.7, 30. Jacob Majoor 18:14.8, 35. Alex Fahey 18:23.7, 37. Lucas Patin 18:25.6, 39. Kyle Sweeney 18:33.4, 48. Nick Forrest 18:54.5, 50. Sam Johnson 19:01.9, and 60. Austin Riccobono with a time of 19:44.7.
The Rockford junior varsity team came home with a second-place finish, tallying 60 points and landing with the same amount as third-place Caledonia. Grand Haven had an impressive showing, tallying just 33 points. Rounding out the scoring, were fourth-place Hudsonville, with 84 points, Grandville in fifth with 148 points, West Ottawa in sixth with 166 points, and East Kentwood in seventh place with 195 points.
Juniors Evan Veldkamp and Kyle Herman claimed eighth and ninth, with times of 18:57.3 and 18:57.8, respectively. Sophomore Kaiden Hunt finished 15th with a time of 19:11.7, and freshman Carson Lafferty crossed the line a 19:12.4 to claim 16th.
