Rockford unofficially opened the season with a trip to Traverse City, Saturday, Nov. 10, for a four-game scrimmage. The Ice Rams faced TC West, TC Central, Bay Reps and Saginaw Heritage, ending the day 3-0-1 and outscoring opponents 9-2.

“We got off to a good start last weekend,” said head coach CJ Pobur. “We got a good look at what we can do and what we still need to work on. From a coaching perspective, it was a positive to see concepts that we’ve been working on in practice executed effectively. Not just on the ice, but on the bench and in the locker room, too.”

Looking ahead, Pobur said, “Now we focus on our first game and what we need to do to start the year off with a win.” Rockford officially opens the 2018/19 regular season on Friday, Nov. 16, against Grand Rapids Catholic Central at Southside Ice Arena (puck drop is slated for 8 p.m.) followed by the Griff’s Thanksgiving Tournament which has the Rams facing Rue Division rival Reeths Puffer on Friday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. and West Catholic or Northview, Saturday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. All Griff’s Thanksgiving Tournament games are held at Griff’s Ice House.
