Girls lacrosse claims conference title

The Lady Ram lacrosse team sealed the conference title this week with wins over Forest Hills United and East Grand Rapids. The team also played East Grand Rapids on May 10, to conclude a busy week.

The girls have a strong, aggressive defense and the team’s redefend makes it difficult for teams to get the ball up the field. Offensively, the girls are controlling the draw, working as a team and making key shots.East Grand Rapids hung tough and the Lady Rams had to play hard. They controlled the ball and the Ram defense proved to be too tough for EGR.

The Ram defense was active. Madi Kleefisch had four caused turnovers and a ground ball, Bailey Banfield with two groundballs and a caused turnover, Anna Glynn with two caused turnovers and Shae Strehl and Hannah Tompkins with aggressive play. Offensively, Brooklyn Neuman had three goals and an assist, Mac Vandermolen and Izzy Holmes with two goals and an assist, Sydney Zimmerman with two goals, Kerrington Vandermolen with a goal and an assist. Hannah Heeren and Maggie Hammer rounded out the scoring with a goal each.
