Rams Down Eagles in Final Dual Meet

HUDSONVILLE – The Rams swim & dive team took on Hudsonville in their final dual meet of the season, Thursday, Oct. 18, and downed the Eagles by a score of 164-151. Rockford claimed firsts in 10 of the 12 events to show their dominance in the pool. The win moved Rockford’s record to 8-1 on the season, with their sole loss being a 1-point edging at the hands of the West Ottawa Panthers.

The Rams started off the meet claiming first and third in the 200-yard medley relay. Touching the wall first was the team of Sara Kraus, Rachel Gamm, Masy Folcik, and Paige Beers, with a time of 1:51:32. The Rams showed their depth with the team of Sarah Foster, Josie Geers, Halina Newland, and Samantha Tow claiming third with a time of 1:59.09. Ashley Lund claimed the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall first, clocking in at 2:00.50, and freshman Oliver Harmsen earned the Rams valuable points by placing fourth, with a time of 2:08.70, and freshman Isabelle Glover landed seventh with a time of 2:11.12. The Rams gave a 2-3 punch in the 200-yard IM with Masy Fokcik placing second with a time of 2:12.60, and Sara Kraus finishing third with a time of 2:16.20. Placing sixth and seventh were Josie Geers, with a time of 2:23.68, and Ally Kinstle, with a time of 2:27.83. Event #4 saw Rockford’s Morgan Kraus breezing to first with a time of 24.14, and Paige Beers placing fourth, clocking in at 26.17, and Sarah Foster touching the wall fifth, with a time of 26.39.

Ram senior Elise Jendritz once again dominated the 1-meter diving event, placing first with 285.10 points. Teammates Ava Laufersky, and Jessica Axtman landind third, and fifth, respectively, and Paige Clauser helped the Ram cause by placing seventh. The 100-yard butterfly found Rachel Gamm placing first with a time of 59/59, and Ashley Lund placing second at 1:00.21. Josie Geers placed seventh with a time of 1:08.51. Morgan Kraus claimed first in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 52:28, with teammates Pagie Beers touching the wall third at 57.73, and Oliver Harmsen placing fifth, clocking in at 58.92. The 500-yard freestyle saw Masy Folcik claim first with a time of 5:20.68, Ally Kinstle finishing fifth, with a time of 5:48.45, and seventh place claimed by Isabelle Glover, with a time of 5:56.84.

Rockford claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Sara Kraus, Masy Folcik, Ashley Lund, and Morgan Kraus timing in at 1:39.21. The 100-yard backstroke found the Rams claiming four of the top seven spots, Rachel Gamm touched the wall first with a time of 1:00.86, followed by Sarah Foster, who clocked in at 1:02.68. Samantha Tow helped the Ram cause with a fifth place and time of 1:06.61, and Sabrina Boss landed seventh with a time of 1:09.07. Sara Kraus placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke, timing in at 1:08.59, followed by teammates Halina Newland and Rylee Davis, who placed fifth and sixth, respectively. The Rams capped off the night with a first place in the final event of the evening. The team of Ashley Lund, Paige Beers, Rachel Gamm, and Morgan Kraus timed in at 3:45 to claim the event and assure a Rams victory.

Rockford will now prepare for the post-season.
