Boys Track Team Claims Regional Crown

The Rockford boys track team claimed first in the MHSAA Division 1 Regional 1, Saturday, May 18, at Grand Haven High School.

The Rams amassed an impressive 131.25 points on its way to the victory. Following the Rams were: 2. Hudsonville 76, 3. Grand Haven 67, 4. Greenville 46, 5. Reeths-Puffer 39, 6. Forest Hills Northern 36, 7. Forest Hills Central 35, 8. Grandville 33.25, 9. Holland 31, 10. Wyoming 24, 11. (T) Ottawa Hills and West Ottawa 21, 13. Muskegon 20, 14. St. Josepah 18.25, 15. GR Union 18, 16. Mona Shores 17.25, 17. Jenison 16, and 18. Northview 10.

Noah Stallworth, Chase Novak, Gavin McIntyre and Cole Johnson earned individual regional titles. Also, the 4X200, 4X400 and 4X800 relay teams also claimed firsts.

The 4X100 team of Eli Haddad, Jason Whittaker, Chase Novak, and Noah Stallworth clocked in at 43.21 to earn second place. First place was earned by the 4X200 relay team of Chase Novak, Nate Carlson, Jacob Rademacher, and Noah Stallworth with a time of 1:29.60. The 4X400 relay team of Jacob Rademacher, Nate Carlson, Evan Dubey, and Cole Johnson placed first, clocking in at 3:26.13. Also earning a regional crown was the 4X800 team of Evan Dubey, Dayton Brown, Jack Grimm, and Cole Johnson, who clocked in at 8:00.22.

Cole Johnson earned two regional titles – placing first in the 800m run with a time of 1:55.59, and in the 1600m run with a time of 4:20.02. Noah Stallworth claimed first place in the 200m with a time of 22.19, and teammate Eli Haddad placed sixth with a time of 23.62. Stallworth also claimed second in the 100m dash with a time of 10.92. Nate Carlson earned a second in the 400m dash with a time of 50.94. Two Rams – Dayton Brown (9:34.88) and Jack Grimm (9:54.77) placed third and fifth, respectively in the 3200m run.

The hurdling events saw Ram Jacob Rademacher place seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.06, and then placing fifth in the 300m hurdles. Ram Micah Sage placed sixth in the 300m hurdles with at time of 41.47.

The Rams also had a big day in the field. Chase Novak claimed first in the long jump with a leap of 21’11.25”, and Gavin McIntyre earned first in the discus throw with a toss of 157’1”. Logan Murphy placed sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 13’, Peyton Gardner finished in seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 42’9.5”, and Kevin Isley placed eighth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’8”.
