The team claimed second place in their age bracket at the Ludington Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.
The "Rockford Rebounders" team claimed third in the Ludington Gus Macker.
LUDINGTON – Two Rockford teams took to the courts to play in one of Gus Macker’s premier basketball tournaments. The popular 3-on-3 event took place in Ludington, June 16-17, along the shore of Lake Michigan. Both teams came home with big finishes and brought back some serious hardware.
The “Rock” players worked their way through the tough Court C bracket all the way to the championship game on Sunday. The team featured talented fourth graders Brayden Daniels, Jake Bascom, Dylan Gross, and Luke Ahem. The bracket featured a total of 16 teams, and the “Rock” team showed plenty of skill, downing everyone they came in contact with to earn their way to a championship match-up. The “Rock” claimed a second place finish, falling to “Chances Make Champions.”
The “Rockford Rebounders,” were a group of 8-year-old Rockford players who played in a bracket with much older competitors. That didn’t seem to faze the scrappy team, though, because they were able to claim a third place finish in a bracket that featured 14 teams. The foursome of Blake Daniels, Bryce Karsies, Josh Bascom, and Quinn Schubert were able to overcome plenty of obstacles on their way to their impressive finish. The team called “We Got Next” was able to claim the championship.
“Both teams played great and are working to get better in the off season,” shared coach Josh Daniels.
