GRANDVILLE – The Lady Rams varsity basketball team notched a win on the road, Tuesday, Jan. 8, against the Grandville Bulldogs. The 50-46 win moves their overall record to 7-2 on the season, and 2-0 in the OK Red.
The win wasn’t a sure thing, as Rockford and the Dawgs battled back and forth all game long. The Bulldogs had a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the Rams earned a five-point lead to close out the half, 28-23. The Rams held a four-point lead at the end of three, and claimed the win 50-46 at the final buzzer.
“Danielle Lamancusa had a monster first half with both scoring and rebounding,” said head coach Brad Wilson. “This opened up opportunities in the second half for her teammates. Danielle was also a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Syd Reinke consistently came up with one big play after another throughout the game to give us a chance. Senior Anna Glynn had two game-clinching free throws with just seconds remaining to pull out the road win.”
Reinke paced the Rams with 13 points, and Lamancusa had a big game tallying 11 points and 10 rebounds.
“Winning on the road in the OK Red is a very tough thing to do,” shared Wilson. “Our team has been battle-tested week in and week out, and this team has proven its ability to grind it out and find a way to win.”
The Rams will travel to Caledonia, Friday, Jan. 11, for their next game. Tip off is 7 p.m.
