ROCKFORD – The Ram gymnastics team played host for their first dual meet of the season, Thursday, Jan. 10. Rockford opened their gym to welcome the Lowell Red Arrows and came away with a 141.8-131.525 victory for the competition. The Rams claimed higher point totals on every apparatus, and also tallied the highest individual score on all four rotations.
In the Vault, The Rams combined for a 35.95, with Ram Morgan Case turning in an impressive 9.4. Reagan Ammon (9.0), Taylor Cullen (8.8), and Ashley Faulkner (8.75) rounded out the Ram scoring for the apparatus. Other scores earned by talented Rams were, Caleigh Kusmeierski (8.65) and Ainsley Jehnzen (7.9).
The Uneven Bars competition found Ram Ashley Faulkner claiming the top score of the evening by earning an 8.85. She was followed by Ammon (8.45), Case (8.05), and Avery Nixon (7.8) to all combine for a 33.4 on the unevens. Also performing and gaining valuable meet experience were, Joey Gair (7.6), Nicole Curtis (7.45) and Taylor Cullen (6.8).
Besides the Vault, Ram Reagan Ammon also had top score on the difficult Balance Beam gathering a 9.2 from the judge. The Rams tallied a 35.95 for the apparatus, with Nixon (9), Case (8.95), and Kusmierski (8.65) combining to earn the total. Rams also competing on the beam were, Cullen (8.3), Curtis (8.55), and Jehnzen (7.9).
The Floor Exercise found two Rams earning identical scores. Both Nixon and Case wowed the fans and judge with 9.4 performances. Cullen (8.875) and Faulkner (8.7) added to the Rams’ total of 36.5. Also turning in performances for the Rams team were, Taylor (8.0) and Gair (7.925).
The Rams will see the Red Arrows, once again, on Saturday, Jan. 12, when they travel to Lowell to compete in the Lowell Invitational. The event starts at 9 a.m.
