Rockford Varsity Gymnastics won first place in the team category at the Kenowa Hills Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 26. Twelve teams competed for the title and Rockford came out on top with a team score of 144.3. Second place went to Forest Hills and third place went to the team from Lowell.
In All-Around, Morgan Case won first place by one tenth of a point with a 36.425, Ashley Faulkner followed close behind in second place with 36.325. Reagan Ammon landed third place with a 36.2. Rounding out the medal winners were Chantel Lokers-fourth place (34.9), Joey Gair in seventh place (33.85) and Nicole Curtis in 10th place (33.35). In vault, Morgan Case took first with a 9.45 and Reagan Ammon won second with a 9.125.
Ashley Faulkner won the bars with an 8.7, Reagan Ammon was third with an 8.375, Chantel Lokers came in fourth at 8.325, Averi Nixon was sixth with an 8.25, and Morgan Case was seventh with an 8.15. On beam, Ashley Faulkner took home first place with her score of 9.475, Reagan Ammon was second with a 9.275, Morgan Case came in third with a 9.075, Caleigh Kusmierski placed fourth with a 9.0, Joey Gair took fifth place with an 8.8, Elise Kinlaw in seventh with an 8.7, Chantel Lokers in eighth with an 8.65 and Nicole Curtis was 10th place with an 8.55.
The Rams took home all top five places in the floor exercise, with Morgan Case setting the pace with a 9.75, Ashley Faulkner in second with a 9.55, Reagan Ammon took third with a 9.425. Also placing at Kenowa Hills, were Chantel Lokers in fourth with a 9.3 and Taylor Cullen with a score of 9.175.
The team is looking toward the conference and regional meets at Kenowa Hills on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, March 2, respectively. The state meet will be held at RHS on Friday and Saturday, March 8-9.
