GRAND HAVEN – The Rams varsity wrestling team traveled Thursday, Jan. 3, to take on the competition in the Grand Haven Quad. Rockford, once again, showed they are a force to be reckoned with, claiming their first match by topping East Kentwood 63-11. Grandville had made it to the winner’s circle to take on the Rams by claiming their match over Grand Haven 46-28. The Rams showed their dominance by beating Grandville 46-17 to claim the quad.
Eight Rams went undefeated on the day, with Bryson Aulbach, Trenton Wachter, Evan Kaser, Jack Richardson, Tyler Waterstrat, Taylor Green, Jacob Slabaugh, and Cole Gleason all claiming two victories. The Rams claimed many of those matches by falls. Ram Trenton Wachter kept his undefeated season intact by claiming two more victories and moving his record to 20-0 on the season. Another huge milestone was Josh Hill, who wrestled at 152 pounds and took on two-time state placer Anthonie Taylor, from East Grandville. Hill claimed the match by a 2-1 decision.
The Rams received four forfeits in the East Kentwood match to claim 24 of their points in their 63-11 victory. The rest of Rockford’s points came from:

Ram wrestlers (145) Jack Richardson (152) Moses Bosscher and (189), Tyler Waterstrat 215) Jacob Slabaugh all earned wins by forfeit.
In the 46-17 Grandville match, the Rams claimed five matches by falls. Those Rams claiming victories in the final match were: (103) Brysonn Aulbach Fall 4:45, (130) Trenton Wachter MD 14-2, (135) Evan Kaser Dec 3-1, (140) Connor White Fall 3:37, (145) Jack Richardson Fall 1:19, (152) Josh Hill Dec. 2-1, (171) Cole Gleason Fall 1:05, (189) Tyler Waterstrat Dec 3-1, (215) Jacob Slabaugh Fall :15, and (285) Taylor Green Dec. 7-5.
The Rams will travel to Detroit for the Detroit Catholic Central Invitational to take on the best in the state, Saturday, Jan. 5.
