Rising Starz Captures 64 Golds at AWC

Rising Starz Gymnastics Team Xcel(ed) at the 2019 Athlete Warrior Challenge at Macomb Community College Sports & Expo Center, January 25-27. The team brought home 64 Gold Medals behind the strength of 14 All-Around Champions.

The Xcel Silver team had seven athletes finish first All-Around, led by Emma Ingles with a 37.725 in the Child A Division. Her score was comprised of three top finishes on Bars (9.475), Beam (9.500) and Floor (9.400) with a strong second on Vault (9.350). Other top Xcel Silver All-Around finishers were Ryenn McRell (1st Junior B – 37.425), Cora Strock (1st Junior A – 37.375), Kelsey Slack (1st Junior A – 37.250), Oliva Ingles (2nd Child A – 37.175), Gina Mehling (2nd Junior B – 37.025), Katelyn Allen (1st Child A – 37.000), Jaylin Hunter (2nd Child A – 36.900), Hailey Sterk (1st Child B – 36.900), McKenzie Todd (3rd Child A – 36.850), Lillian Green (1st Child B – 36.800), Braelyn Johnson (2nd Child B – 36.775), Ava Peterson (3rd Child B – 36.625), Cassidy Cullen (3rd Junior A – 36.575) and Kiley Manven (3rd Child A – 36.525).

The Xcel Gold team was led by a 38.200 All-Around from top podium finisher Emma Shutich. She grabbed golds on Vault (9.450), Beam (9.800) and Floor (9.650) in the Junior A Division. Also claiming podium spots for All-Around scores were Georgia Readwin (1st Junior B – 38.100), Leah Koch (3rd Junior A – 37.800), Addy Rasmussen (1st Junior B – 37.550), Faith Vyn (2nd Junior B – 37.525), Molly DiCosola (1st Senior B – 37.450), Madelyn Gallatin (1st Junior A – 37.325), Claire Adams (3rd Junior B – 37.300), Maddie Pastoor (2nd Senior – 36.950), Mayzen Roerig (3rd Senior A – 36.800) and Brooke Gordon (3rd Junior A – 36.550).

The Xcel Platinum team featured one All-Around champion in Emily Pittman with a 37.600 in the Junior A Division. Her score featured three golds on Bars (9.450), Beam (9.500) and Floor (9.550). Also finishing on the podium for their All-Around scores were Aviela Einfeld (3rd Junior A – 37.050) and Olivia Schubert (3rd Junior C – 36.550).

Rounding out the big showing for the team was a first All-Around performance from Olivia Thornley in the Xcel Diamond Junior Division with a 37.025. She captured gold on Beam (9.425), silver on Vault (9.050) and bronze on Bars (9.000) and Floor (9.550). Lacey Scheid also claimed a podium spot with a 36.900 All-Around in the same division.
