BAY CITY – The Rockford 10U All-Star team made a huge statement on the diamond in the State Little League Tournament. The All-Stars registered a monumental 19-2 win over the Beach Little League All-Stars, July 29, in their second pool game. Combined with the win from yesterday, the Rockford All-Stars are assured of moving on in bracket play and earned a seed in the tournament.
Beach actually scored first in the bottom of the first inning, and was able to push one over in the third, but Rockford never felt too much stress after recording eight runs of their own in the top of the second. Rockford had a huge fourth inning that featured six singles, four walks, a double and plenty of aggressive base running to plate an additional 11 runs in the game.
Quinn Geshel started on the mound and did a great job for Rockford, going three innings, and giving up only two runs on just four hits and one walk, while striking out four. Drew Ramm came on in relief and threw one inning and didn’t give up any hits.
Drew went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Breckton Meeuwsen went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI, and Chase Pitsch went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI. Daniel Toole was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Quinn (double), Eli Johnson (double), and Manny Abro were all 2-for-4, with Manny knocking in four RBI. Carter VanderTuig, Mason Plain, and Cole Mason all had a hit apiece to help Rockford’s cause.
Rockford will play their final pool game tomorrow against Tecumseh at 4 p.m.
