ZEELAND – The Rockford All-Star 11U team faced off against Zeeland in the finals bracket of the District 9 Little League Tournament and fell 2-1 in a closely contested game, Wednesday, July 25. The double elimination tournament allows Rockford to come back in the lower bracket, and they will play again tomorrow night.
Zeeland pitching had a huge night and was extremely stingy, holding Rockford to 3-for-20 at the plate. Ty Blystone, Reed Binney, and Tobin Pokorzynski each had a hit, with Pokorzynski being the only Rockford player to cross the plate. Two Rockford players, Blake Linsley and Jacob Soltys, worked the count to earn a free pass for the team. Two Rockford pitchers, Dawson Hunter and Blystone, shared the duties on the mound having an impressive night keeping Rockford in the game. Hunter pitched three innings giving up one earned run on six hits and two walks, while mowing down five. Blystone threw two innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.
Rockford will face Georgetown on the diamond, Thursday, July 26, at 6 p.m. at Pinery Park.
