ST CLAIR – The Rockford Majors All-Star team gave family, friends, and hometown fans plenty to cheer about during their run in the Little League Tournament and made plenty of fantastic memories along the way. The team ran into a potent Grosse Point Woods Shores for the second time in the state tournament and fell by a score of 12-7 in the state final game, Wednesday, July 25. The team was crowned second in the entire state of Michigan - a huge accomplishment that many players dream about since in T-ball.
The team has plenty to be proud of in a tournament that found them named District 9 Champions, and making their way all the way to the state finals to earn runner-up status. They also claimed 12 games out of the past 15 and tallied an amazing 144 runs in the process, with plenty of great hits along the way.
It was a combined team effort from a roster that included Jack Lockwood, Gavin Engelsman, Haiden Noakes, Drake Irwin, Connor Courtney, Quinn Bentley, Gabe Stouffer, Jordan Eck, Jonny Rohen-Blanton, Payton Skarda, Andrew Landis, Michael Skarda and Jackson Wyble. The team was expertly coached by Matt Lockwood, Derek Landis, Dan Bentley and Matt Engelsman.
