ROCKFORD – It took seven days, due to awful Michigan weather, but the girls varsity basketball team was finally able to take to the court again to continue their season. Unfortunately, the Rams fell to a tough East Kentwood team 72-56, Friday, Jan. 18. The loss moves Rockford’s overall record to 8-3, and they are 3-1 in the OK Red.
The Rams were down by just three points going into the fourth quarter, but two Falcons went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc to seal a 72-56 East Kentwood victory. The Rams looked impressive throughout the game on 3’s, also, tallying eight on the day.
“Our kids fought really hard,” said Ram head coach Brad Wilson. “I am very proud of the way we competed. EK is a very talented team with future college players all over the court, yet our girls went toe-to-toe with them for four quarters.”
Hannah Morgan paced the Rams with 17 points. Maddi Kleefisch added 12 points, and Danielle Lamancusa chipped in seven points.
“The end score wasn’t indicative of how the game actually went,” shared Wilson.”Ultimately the loss hurts, but we will definitely learn from it, and it proves we can play with anyone in the state.”
The Rams will play host to Grand Haven, Tuesday, Feb. 13, with tip off at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
