The RHS Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team continued its April winning streak! After last week's momentum building win over No. 3 Hartland, the Rams hosted Forest Hills Northern on Tuesday, April 24. Team 21 earned a hard fought 8-5 win. Goals in the victory were scored by Cam Henckel (2), Cam Kostus (2), Brian Bera (2), Lucas Galvin, and Kevin Bieke.

The Rams were home on Friday for Senior Night. It was a memory filled night as many of the seniors were part of the first 3rd/4th grade lacrosse team in Rockford and were celebrating their Rockford lacrosse careers. Over the last 10 years, Team 21's seniors have played numerous games together in spring, summer and fall and have been instrumental in establishing Rockford as a state contender. With Brighton coming in ranked No. 5 in Division 1 - the No. 4 Rams were not going to let Brighton spoil their Senior Night! Led by a senior heavy offense - the Rams showed patience against the Brighton zone defense and took advantage of lengthy possessions. At the end of one, the Rams were up 1-0 and the half time scoreboard still reflected a low scoring game as Rockford took a 2-1 lead into the break.

The third quarter continued to be a battle with Brighton going up 4-3 however with .08 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Brian Bera scored off of a feed by Cam Henckel to tie up the game 4-4. Brighton came out in the 4th quarter scoring two goals and giving the Bulldogs a 6-4 lead over Rockford with eight minutes to go. The team was not to be denied. With his 66 percent save percentage on the night, Ben Stoklas led his defense and the offense dug deep to come back with four unanswered goals and an 8-6 victory!

On Saturday, the Rams traveled to Grandville for their annual lacrosse vs cancer purple game benefitting Van Andel Institute. The Rams came out with a 7-4 victory, however, the real win was recorded by both programs as the contest held more meaning in the recognition of loved ones that have faced cancer and the fundraising efforts coming in at almost $20,000!

The upcoming schedule will be tough as the Rams will play eight games in tow weeks against four highly ranked schools in Michigan's top 10 and also St. Viator from Illinois that is in that state's top 10. Moving up in Division 1 rankings to No. 3 - Team 21 will play those contests on a long road stretch. They travel to 2017 Division 2 state champion EGR on Tuesday, May 1 at 7 p.m., Forest Hills Eastern Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and will then play at currently Division 1 ranked Detroit Catholic Central on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.
